It is my understanding that you don’t typically “have to” pedal an e-bike. If they’re pedal assist you can usually choose to use just the throttle only or pedal and the electric kicks in to assist in pedaling, making it much easier to pedal. I have a Jetson Bolt Plus with pedal assist and I usually ride it using only the throttle. I only pedal occasionally.
